Wilmington, Ohio – This week’s Wilmington Sunday Highlight shines on Dakota Zehler of Wellington, Florida. When she’s not displaying within the Medium Pony Hunters or the 1.00m Junior Jumpers, Dakota is again within the barn serving to the group at Flying Soleau LLC. WEC: How did you get began driving?

I began driving as a result of my mother used to journey when she was youthful. She grew up driving with my coach Kelly Soleau. Once I acquired older, I began to journey Kelly’s pony Peter, and it has been so superb since. I began driving and taking little classes at a special barn in Wellington, after which my mother and Kelly linked about Peter.

Peter [Lost Boy] is superb, he’s my good pony. I began driving him a pair years in the past and he was a little bit bit loopy as a younger pony! As I began to journey him, we actually improved collectively a lot. I took him to Pony Finals final yr and he gained the over fences and was reserve champion. He has been so superb, and it has been so enjoyable to enhance collectively.

It has been a very nice, chill vibe for my first time within the jumpers so it has been actually enjoyable to have the chance to indicate her.

WEC: Inform us about your day-to-day as a working pupil at Flying Soleau LLC.

It has been superb! I begin out within the mornings serving to with driving Peter and Farmy. I often get up fairly early for my courses and I like to assist get the horses prepared and watch Kelly do the larger courses. At residence I assist with turnout and the entire barn chores.

WEC: What’s your favourite factor about driving?

Being across the horses! It’s so superb to observe all of them enhance and succeed. I actually take pleasure in watching all of them go in and do superb issues.

I like coming to WEC as a result of it’s so enjoyable. All of my associates are all the time right here. The rings are so good and so they all the time put actually enjoyable issues within the rings. In fact, I like the ice pops that give out on the golf carts. That’s my favourite half.
